JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF WASTHINGTON

PROGRAM COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

The Coordinator positions are part time positions serving programs in King, Pierce and Thurston Counties. Qualities of a coordinator include: proactive, detailed oriented, good customer service skills and strong computer skills. Duties of a coordinator will directly tie into the goals of their Regional Team. Responsibilities include:

VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT
  • Call returning volunteers and place them with class
  • Request leads of other volunteers from returning volunteers
  • Contact potential volunteer sources to engage them
  • Create materials for interest meetings
  • Present JA volunteering opportunities to various audiences
  • Recruit volunteers to achieve annual student participation goal
EDUCATION
  • Contact MIA teachers to build class roster each semester
  • Call teachers at the beginning of the term to verify curriculum, start date, get class times and number of students in the class
  • Create materials for interest meetings with various education audiences: district, principal, department heads, teachers
  • Present JA programs to existing and new teachers and principals
  • Recruit sufficient classrooms to achieve annual student participation goal
TRAINING & SERVICEING
  • Schedule and conduct training sessions (volunteers & teachers)
  • Track volunteers to ensure they attend training
  • Make follow-up calls after training to ensure teacher contact has been made
  • Perform verification/servicing process for each program unit
  • Ensure sufficient program units are verified to achieve annual student participation goal
PROJECT COORDINATION
Within territory, assume coordination accountability of a variety of projects, including:
  • Job Shadow
  • Bankers JA Day
  • Other JA Days
  • High School Partnerships
  • College Partnerships
  • PTA Partnerships
  • Whole School Partnerships
  • Volunteer Recognition and Retention
  • Special Events (Bowling, Golf)
REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's degree with experience in school system or sales. Fluent in standard business English with the ability to speak, read and write at a professional level. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. Insured vehicle and current Washington State driver's license. A background check will be required.

October 2009

COMPENSATION AND JOB DETAILS

Part time, up to 20 hours per week. Potential for work schedule to follow school calendar and school breaks. Hourly rate: $13-16 per hour DOE.
